  I would like to go on disability doctor / I need a form for disability insurance completed today

  • Disability insurance and other insurance forms are better completed by a doctor your have had a long standing relationship. Someone who cared for you when you were otherwise in good health or who recommended you to go on disability.

  I am on controlled drug, I can not see my regular doctor so I am hoping to get a prescription as walk in

  • We generally decline refilling controlled drugs in walk in clinics. Persons needing controlled drug should enter into a permanent relationship of trust with a doctor and avoid frequent switch of family doctors. Controlled drugs are listed on the Alberta triplicate program. This list of drugs are closely monitors for abuse so patients on these drugs are advised to work and plan ahead with their doctors to ensure they have adequate prescription.   I want to get Vitamin D testing done?

  • Checking for Vitamin D is not routinely performed because Canada is located above the 35° North latitude, the average Canadian’s exposure to sunlight is insufficient to maintain adequate Vitamin D levels, especially during the winter. Therefore, measuring serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels is not necessary because routine supplementation with Vitamin D is appropriate for the general population.

  I will like to get my annual physical done?

  • Health maintenance advises are encouraged on an ongoing basis in todays practice of medicine along side preventive healthcare. See your doctor to design your own personalized health care plan.

  My friend told me I should have a Pap test at age 21?

  • Pap test is generally advised for all women starting at age 25years and above that are sexually active and will be stopped at age 70. Talk to your doctor if you fall outside of this age and believe there is a reason you might need a pap.

  I have a cold that I can not seem to shake, Can you give me antibiotics to get rid of this sooner.

  • Most cases of cold/cough seen in family practice are viral in nature. See your doctor to help decide if you will benefit from antibiotics. Remember to stay hydrated, rest, practice good hand hygiene, cough in tissue/sleeve and stay at home if needed.

  Doctor I will like MRI/CT/XRAY for my back pain?

  • Imaging is reserved for back pain with red flags. Most people present to a walk-in or family practice do not need any form of imaging, please talk to your doctor to help with appropriate pain medication and to decide if you are a candidate for imaging.
